CCPE Issues e-Learning Certificates

DUT’s Centre for Continuing and Professional Education (CCPE), with the aid of  Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT), recently honoured staff members who completed a course in online teaching and facilitation at a certificate award ceremony held at the DUT Steve Biko Campus.

This year, 17 DUT staff members completed the Faculty Certificate in Online Teaching- a course offered by the international GlobalNxt University on behalf of Manipal University.

The six-week online course enables participants to become effective online instructors. It also helps them to be able to design courses, select proper tools, smooth the progress of learner engagement and evaluate learning. The programme also gives them the assistance they require to manage online classrooms successfully.

CCPE Director, Dr Kavita Beemsen, congratulated all those who took part in the online course.

The 17 staff members who completed the FCOT course were Baphiwe Daweti, Dr Duduzile Mzindle, Esther Joubert, Ferina Marimuthu, Prof Feroz Swalaha, Keith Paul, Dr Krishna Naidoo, Dr Mamothibe Thamae,  Michaella Cavannagh, Dr Mogiveny Rajkoomar, Dr Padhma Moodley, Adv. Robin Sewlal, Dr Rosaline Govender, Sheila Narsee, Tasneem Seedat, Upaasna Ramraj and Verna Yearwood.

Overall, participants felt more confident going back and starting online classrooms and that the course was a valuable learning experience.
