Always Put God First And You Will Achieve!

Gaining experience in the field of Electrical Engineering has already paved the way for the very enthusiastic Brendan Pillay, to be the best that he can be.

The enterprising young man graduated with Cum Laude and the Dean’s Merit award, obtaining his Degree of Bachelor of Technology: Electrical Engineering, today during the Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment’s second graduation session this Spring.

On hearing the news of his outstanding merit performance, he was gobsmacked.

“It was unreal, yet a relief and joy at the same time. As I did aim to get Cum Laude but the Dean’s Merit award was very unexpected,” he said.

Pillay believes his journey may have not have been a straight forward one but it eventually paid off. “I actually was working in the electrical field for five years before I had started my initial studying, so basically it wasn’t such a hard choice on what course to study since I had the experience already, as well,” he added.

He also stressed that he is a staunch believer in God, so he looks to God as his source of inspiration. “It was all God every time I would feel things were getting hard or tough, I would prayer and well as you can see by what I achieved, he answered my prayers,” he said.

Achieving such excellent academic results, Pillay is optimistic that it will give him more recognition in the employment field and open more doors for him.

He also encourages all young and passionate would-be Electrical Engineers to never give up on their dreams. “I know people always say this but never give up, work hard, manage one’s time and put God first,” stressed Pillay.

Pillay, who is currently working at Igoda Projects, is thoroughly enjoying his job. “I would like to take a break for a while and focus on my professional Registration with ECSA and thereafter probably do project management studies,” he said.
