DUT Graduation Ceremonies are a place of happiness

The Durban University of Technology Autumn graduation ceremonies are what most students call a “place of happiness and pride”.

Journalism Bachelor of Technology Degree graduate, Sihle Ndebele said in a post on Tuesday, on his facebook page, “We are in Durban. Durban (DUT) has been great to us! This was for my Btech degree, my Master’s degree is definitely looming”.

Meanwhile, Sonnyboy Shongwe who travelled all the way to Durban from Mpumalanga to pursue his National Diploma in Civil Engineering, on Monday (08 May 2017) tweeted, “The travel from MP to KZN… 8 hours sitting in that taxi has been worth it. #FamilyThing #WeAreGraduating #DUTLovesUs.”

While others were tweeting and uploading on facebook, Instagram was also on a buzz with not just students posting images of themselves in their trendy hairstyles, dresses and shoes, but even their family members were part of the celebrations.

“The Lord has done it again, I thank you, Jesus, for my daughter’s success, she is graduating again. I wouldn’t have missed it for the world. All those late nights my Angel had to sacrifice to be here, have finally paid off. Thank you #DUT,” said Siphesihle Mbatha, who posted his daughter graduating for her Bachelor of Technology Degree in Human Resources Management.

Lecturers are also not shying away from the celebrations, they are seen outside the hall taking pictures with their former students and on stage when their students walk-up, the smiles are hard to miss.
