Dear friends of the UFC,

During the upcoming Aids Conference the UFC, together with TB/HIV Care will be responsible for setting up and running a Harm Reduction Networking Zone. The Zone will have three main purposes:

  1. To provide a space for drug users to meet up and chill out. This is open to delegates who use drugs and to drug users who are not part of the conference.
  2. To provide harm reduction services to people who use drugs that are delegates at the conference. This will include providing clean needles and syringes, condoms, lubricants and saline. We will also have a psychiatrist who will be assisting with the ‘translating’ of prescriptions for those who are on opioid substitution therapy medication.
  3. To provide a series of talks and presentations on issues pertaining to drug use. These will take place every day. Please see the attached programme.

Entrance to the Global Village is free. It is worth looking up what is happening at the Global Village during the Aids Conference as it promises to be very vibrant. Please join us in the Harm Reduction Networking Zone for some of the presentations, or just to chill out.
