Bio: Professor Jeeva Govender is an Associate Professor and Head of Department. He holds a PhD in Marketing.  He is a long serving staff member, being at the university for over 26 years.  He has been involved in teaching at undergraduate level, with a focus on post-graduate studies. He has supervised several masters and doctoral graduates. In addition, he has presented extensively at international conferences and has many journal article publications to his credit.  His focus areas include relationship marketing, green marketing and services marketing.

Bio: Dr Karen Corbishley is a senior lecturer in the Department of Marketing and Retail Management at the Durban University of Technology. She received her D Phil Management Science (Marketing) from the Durban University of Technology. Her Doctorate was in the Retail field focusing on Loyalty programmes and Relationship Management. Other interests have included Cause Related Marketing and Private Schools Marketing.She has been involved in the supervision and co-supervision of a number of successful Masters degrees and continues to supervise both Masters and PhD students. She has published a number of articles in International Journals and presented at both Local and International Conferences. She has served as an external examiner for Masters and Doctorate degrees and a number of undergraduate programmes at various South African Universities. Before joining Durban University of Technology 27 years ago, she worked in the marketing department of SA Wimpy, a well-known fast food brand.

Bio:Dr Mandusha Maharaj in her capacity as Senior Lecturer at the Department of Marketing and Retail Management at the DUT is involved in Management Studies research cluster coordination and the coordinator of the international exchange students. She also engages in research and supervision of Masters and PhD Managements Sciences postgraduate students. She also lectures to undergraduate students in the Marketing and Retail Management qualifications.In addition, through her research involvement, both supervising masters and doctoral qualifications, she participates in the universities research, teaching and learning projects. She has been invited to chair and judge the annual research day at the university for the past five years. She also serves as mentor to postgraduate students of the management studies cluster. In addition, she also participates as an external examiner for Masters Qualifications at University of KwaZulu-Natal.

Bio: Mr Dion Noel is a lecturer at the Department of Marketing & Retail Management. He received his master’s degree in Marketing from the Durban University of Technology. His subject area interests include Marketing, Retail, Economics, Operations, Logistics & Supply Chain Management. He has been involved in supervision of post-graduate students. He has Journal publications to his credit. He is currently studying towards his DPhil in Marketing.

Bio: Miss Makhosazane (Polly) Buthelezi is a lecturer in the department of Marketing and Retail Management. She holds a Degree of Master of Management Sciences specializing in Retail from Durban University of Technology and she is currently pursuing a DPhil in Retail. She lecturers Applied retailing, Business Studies, Retail Systems, Sales Techniques, Marketing metrics, Marketing for Public Relations and Logistics. Miss Buthelezi’s academic career as a lecturer began in 2020 at the Durban University of Technology as a lecturer in the department. Prior to joining DUT she worked in the retail industry for over 3 years as a junior manager. She is passionate about academia and research. Her research interests include online retailing, consumer behaviour and customer experience. She is also involved in community engagement.

Bio: Mrs ST Jembere is a lecturer in the Department of Marketing and Retail Management. She holds a MCom degree in Business Management from University of Zululand. Prior to joining DUT, Mrs Jembere lectured at University of Zululand in the Department of Business Management.Her research interest include social media marketing, blended learning, consumer behaviour and marketing communication.

Bio: Mr Sandile Mkhize is a lecturer in the department of Marketing and Retail Management. He holds a Master of Commerce degree from University of KwaZulu Natal (UKZN) and is currently pursuing a PhD in Marketing. His areas of research interest include green marketing, creativity in marketing communication, diffusion of innovation and social entrepreneurship. Prior to joining DUT, he lectured at various private colleges including Milpark College, MANCOSA and IMM for over 6 years. Mr Mkhize has also worked in the private sector for organisations such as ABI, Deloitte Consulting and Sasfin Bank to mention a few. He has also published journal articles and a book chapter. He is also a reviewer for a DHET accredited Journal.

Bio: Mr Nad Pillay is a lecturer for the Department of Marketing and Retail Management. He received his M.Tech: Marketing degree from the Durban University   of Technology.His subject area interests include Marketing. Management and Operations and involved in supervision of post-graduates students.

Bio: Mr Ewell Mnelisi Xaba is a lecturer in the department of Marketing and Retail Management. He holds a Marketing Master’s Degree from Tshwane University of Technology (TUT). His areas of research interest includes online retailing; multi-sensory marketing and sustainability marketing. Prior to Joining DUT Mr Xaba has been deeply engaged with students success as student academic advisor and lecturer at Mangosuthu University of Technology (MUT) for over 6 years. He was also involved in a number research projects; community engagement projects and students entrepreneurship programmes. Mr Xaba is also no stranger to the private sector. He has worked for different companies in different sectors as a marketing specialist and also as brand ambassador. Just to mention a few: Stuttafords (clothing Retail); Coastlands security (Security) and Mama’s Jus’ Jazzin (Entertainment).

Bio:Dr. Nkululeko PraiseGod Zungu is a lecturer in the department of Marketing and Retail Management. He holds a DPhil in Management Science: specialisation in Marketing from Durban University of Technology.

His areas of research specialisation include service quality at retail banking, service quality at public institutions, marketing strategy, retail buying, and social media marketing.

He has been involved in co-supervising of post-graduate students, acted as Non-Examining Chair for a panel of Examiners at a post-graduate level, and has been a reviewer for a DHET accredited Journal.

Bio: Ms Reddy is a lecturer in the Department of Marketing and Retail Management. She holds a Master’s degree in Marketing from the Durban University of Technology. She lectured part time at the department for two years while completing her Master’s degree. She has also worked in industry for over a year as a marketing assistant. Her research interests include marketing communication, graduate employability, work-integrated learning, consumer behaviour and the fourth industrial revolution.

Bio:

Ms. Matli is a New Generation of Academics lecturer in the Department of Marketing and Retail Management. She holds a Master’s Degree in Marketing from Durban University of Technology. Prior to joining DUT, Ms. Matli has been in the Marketing and Retail Industry for over ten years, holding positions in Retail, Marketing and Sales Management and Facilitation. She has also worked as an Institutional Researcher for one year at Mangosuthu University of Technology.

She is currently the Academic Advisor for Enactus DUT and is involved in various community projects. She is also a member of the FemDac. Group under the Andrew Mellon Projects which consists of 20 black female academics from DUT, UKZN, University of Stellenbosch and University of Illinois.

She is passionate about teaching, community engagement and research, her dream is to see the academic arena evolve and meet the requirements of the industry by producing versatile young professionals. Her research interests include branding of Higher Education Institutions, consumer decision making and selection.

Bio: Mrs Abdool holds a B-Tech in Management from the Durban University of Technology and is pursuing her Masters in Marketing. She has published papers at two conferences on University image.

Mrs Abdool is also passionate about making a difference and contributing to the lives of students. Her area of expertise involves office administration and support.
