Muyeni’s dreams earn her Deans Merit

When Shuratta Muyeni a Durban University of Technology Public Relations Management graduate started focusing more on her dreams than that of others that were when her academic record improved for the best.

Muyeni, graduated Cum laude and Deans merit during the Faculty of Management Sciences ceremony at the FJ Sithole Hall in Indumiso Campus, DUT. Muyeni enrolled for her Diploma in Public Relations Management after dropping out of studying Mechanical engineering at a private college. After studying for a full three years, she was not fulfilled with doing a program she had no passion on and the longer she studied Mechanical engineering, problems just kept arising and her personality was being compromised in the process.

“When I realised that being an engineer was not something I was passionate about but I was doing it to please my father, that is when I decided to drop out and pursue something that was closer to my heart, being, Public Relations Management,” she said.

According to Muyeni, the moment she started pursuing PR, she found growth and she enjoyed what she was studying. “When I joined DUT, my parents noticed that I became a lot happier, my academics improved and most importantly I also grew as a person and that is what I feel contributed to earning myself Cum laude and Deans Merit,” added Muyeni.

Muyeni is currently studying towards her Bachelor of Technology Degree and working on a novel. She frequently publishes written work on her blog. One of her dreams is to be able to own her own PR consultancy firm.
