DUT: Massive piece of art to be unveiled in Cape Town tomorrow

DUT: MASSIVE PIECE OF ART TO BE UNVEILED IN CAPE TOWN TOMORROW

Renowned artist and sculptor Andries Botha has been commissioned to construct a public sculpture at the entrance to a building in Waterkant, Cape Town. The sculpture will be unveiled on 27 March 2008.

Botha lectures in Fine Art at the Durban University of Technology’s City campus.

The Site Specific Sculpture is located on the corner of Strand and Hudson streets. The sculpture is commissioned by the owner of the building Mr Gerald Phillips.

Botha describes this art work as “a massive and powerful piece of engineering”. The horizontal sculpture is four by four metres in size.
