DUT Resignation of Vice-Chancellor

Media statement from Durban University of Technology (DUT)

DUT regrets to announce the resignation of Professor Roy du Pré as Vice-Chancellor and Principal.
The Executive Committee of Council met yesterday to discuss the matter and engage with the Vice-Chancellor. After careful consideration his resignation was regrettably accepted and he was thanked for his services to the University.

It was mutually agreed that Professor du Pré will leave his post at the end of February. Professor Nqabomzi Gawe has been appointed by Executive Committee (EXCO) as Acting Vice-Chancellor and Principal with effect from 1 March 2010 until the post is filled.

On behalf of Council I wish to thank Professor du Pré most sincerely for his services to DUT and wish him the very best for the future.
The Executive Committee has set in motion a process to advertise and fill the post as soon as possible.
