DUT to bring companies to students

DUT to bring companies to students

Media statement by Nomonde Mbadi, Executive Director: Corporate Affairs

In an effort to promote interaction between companies and students, DUT’s Co-operative Education Department will be hosting their annual ‘World of Work’ careers exhibition.

Companies are invited by the Co-operative Education Department to showcase to the students the different careers they offer. The selection of companies invited will cover careers in all programmes offered by DUT across our six faculties.

The exhibition will held at DUT’s Ritson Hall from the 14 – 15 August 2008 (8:30 to 4pm). Organisers Lentsu Nchabeleng, Princess Mbele, Nontobeko Mthembu and Laurelle McNamara all agreed that this will be a great opportunity for students to interact with prospective employers.

Some of the companies that will be participating are Toyota, Pep, Woolworths, SAPS,Nandos, etc. Whirlpool will be giving away a microwave to one lucky student, while Nandos will be cooking and promoting their meals.

The Co-operative Education Department which is responsible for liaison between the University, employers, professional bodies, professional societies and other relevant organisations will also have a stand at the exhibition. This is to encourage students to approach the department if they need placements for their in-service training.

For more information, please call the Co-operative Education Department’s Shakeel Ori on 031 373 2307/ 2657.
