DUT TO HOST LEADING INTERNATIONAL RESEARCHERS AND SCIENTISTS DURING THE FIRST INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON COMPOSITES, BIOCOMPOSITES AND NANOCOMPOSITES

Media Statement by Alan Khan, Senior Director: Corporate Affairs at the Durban University of Technology

The Durban University of Technology will host leading international researchers and scientists during the First International Conference on Composites, Biocomposites and Nanocomposites (ICCBN) which is being organised by Professor Mervyn Kanny who heads the Composite Research Group (CRG) in the Department of Mechanical Engineering.

Professor Sarp Adali, Director of the Centre for Composite Materials and Structures who is also Sugar Millers Professor of Mechanical Design in the School of Engineering at UKZN; Professor John Dorgan, Colorado School of Mines as well as Professor Ramachandran Velmurugan, Professor of Aerospace Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology are some of the notable researchers who will deliver plenary presentations at the conference. Delegates from 12 different countries will present their papers, they include, engineers scientists, and industrialists.

The conference kicks off on Sunday (December 01, 2013) ending on Wednesday (December 04, 2013) at the DUT Ritson Campus.

A variety of topics dealing with the processing, testing, analysis and modelling of these advanced materials systems will be discussed at the conference. Over 100 papers will also be presented, with selected papers to be recommended for publication in the Journal of Reinforced Plastics and Composites, Journal of Composite Materials as well as Strain.
