SABC Election 2011 Debates

In the run-up to the elections, the SABC will be featuring a range of election related content on radio, TV and new media platforms, reaching national, regional and provincial audiences with different programmes.

One of the special election programmes is called Election 2011 Debates, broadcast weekly live on Sunday nights on SABC1 from 18:30 to 19:30, SAfm and www.sabcnews.com. The programme is aimed at national audiences and is designed to give leaders of prominent parties a platform for debate.

The programme will feature a number of party leaders and a panel of analysts in a live debate in front of an audience. During the programme parties will be given an opportunity to state their positions on the topic under discussion, followed by a debate moderated in such a way that as many views as possible can be featured within the available time.

INVITATION

We hereby invite you to attend, as member of the press, the Election 2011 Debate on Sunday, 06 March 2011.

The debate will be hosted jointly by the SABC and the Durban University of Technology, and will take place at the Fred Crookes Sports Centre on the Steve Biko Campus.

Please arrive at the venue at 17:45 on Sunday, 6 March 2011, to allow time for preparation for the live broadcast. The doors will close at 18:00 and the broadcast will start at 18:30. The debate ends at 19:30.

Mr Crispin Hemson, the Director of the Centre for Non-Violence at DUT will be part of the panel of analysts.
