Senators debate on plagiarism

Reports of plagiarism in the media have been rife. This is of grave concern and it’s time to talk about it. It is for this reason that Durban University of Technology’s library is holding a “Senators’ Debate” on the topic: “Asikhulume nge plagiarism – let’s talk about plagiarism” on 9 September 2009. The debate takes place at the Hotel School Conference Centre at 11h45.

The panel will include persons from the artistic, publishing and academic circles. Panelists include: Fred Khumalo, Musa Zulu, Robin Sewlal and Andries Botha.

The library has been involved in projects to enhance academic integrity at the institution since 2007. This year, the 7-11 September 2009, have been identified as Academic Integrity Week, which is a week of events to raise awareness and understanding of academic integrity among our students and staff.

Highlights of the week include:
We are kicking off Academic Integrity Week with a bang. HIP HOP artist, Selwyn Bongani Ngwenya, the 2005 SAMA best rap album award winner, will be performing live on stage. Selwyn will not only perform his hit songs, but will also engage with the students in a rap competition.
