Salary Agreement Reached at DUT

The three labour unions at the Durban University of Technology (NEHAWU, NTEU and TENUSA) have reached an agreement with management on the 2017 salary increases for staff. The agreement was signed this afternoon (Friday, 3 February 2017) by all four parties.

The agreement features a 7% salary increment, which is applicable to basic pay, for grades 06 to 16 on the Peromnes scale and a R5000 non–pensionable, once-off bonus which was paid to staff during the December 2016 salary run. Linked to this agreement was a commitment, by labour, to a set of sustainability principles for the University for future salary negotiations.

In consensus, the four parties, were happy with carrying the agreement forward and keeping a positive relationship between themselves, labour as well as students.

The 2017 student registration is still continuing at DUT as the university has extended the period for late registration until further notice. No late registration penalties will be applicable as long as the extended registration period is in effect.

The academic programme is scheduled to commence on Monday 6 February 2017.

DUT wishes all students and staff a safe and successful year.
