All DUT students are eligible to enrol in a challenging and stimulating Leadership course that will develop your understanding about leadership and its possibilities.

The course is offered by the Durban Leadership Institute, a joint project of DUT, the African Centre for the Constructive Resolution of Disputes (ACCORD) and the International Centre of Nonviolence (ICON).

The course will be delivered using the blended learning approach. The course will commence in February 2014 and will include a series of eight evening contact sessions (meetings, discussions, presentations, videos and so on). These sessions are designed to expose students to some great leaders who will reflect on their understanding and experience of leadership. These 8 contact sessions will be supported by the provision of online learning materials, supplementary readings, multimedia resources and discussion forums using the BlackBoard e-learning platform.

Mentorship and group community projects, which are integral to developing leadership, are part of this course. Students will undertake a community project whilst working in groups to develop their abilities in team work, conflict management and group dynamics.

Students who participate fully and complete the community project will receive a Certificate of Attendance.

Students will not be required to pay any tuition fees for the course.

If you are interested, access the application form for the Leadership Programme through the DUT Student Portal (Download here).
