About Us:

The CQPA has a key role in promoting quality and developing capacity for the assurance of quality through:

  • Actively promoting the synergy between quality, planning and resource allocation in alignment with national imperatives for higher education.
  • Facilitating the implementation of a review system for all of DUT’s activities to ensure that its key strategic objectives are achieved efficiently and effectively.
  • Developing and implementing systems for tracking quality.
  • Positioning the DUT for external audit and accreditation.

SERVICES

Quality Promotion and Enhancement
The CQPA:

  • Provides university-wide service for professional advice and support
  • Provides advice and support to Faculties for the implementation of policies

Academic planning
The CQPA:

  • Provides support for the external approval and accreditation of new programmes
  • Provides advice and support to Faculties regarding academic programme planning
  • Liaises with national external bodies with regard to the approval, accreditation and registration of new programmes
  • Oversees the approved Programme and Qualification Mix for the DUT and the registration of qualifications and learning programmes with SAQA
  • Provides support and advice for the revision of existing programmes

Quality Monitoring and Quality Assurance
The CQPA:

  • Manages and implements academic programme reviews and the review / audit of support departments
  • Monitors the implementation of policies
  • Identifies policy gaps and advises the university accordingly
  • Elicits feedback through implementation of a range of user surveys

Preparation for national reviews and audit
The CQPA:

  • Assists departments to prepare for national programme accreditation
  • Assists departments prepare for accreditation by professional bodies
  • Facilitates and supports preparation for institutional audits by national agencies such as the HEQC
