There are a number of departments/directorates that are involved in fundraising in one way or the other. DoCA is responsible for the following:

• To facilitate the process of raising funds/material goods from donors for use by the university and/or in its community outreach work;
• To ensure the receipt of donor funds and the issuing of Section 18A Tax Certificates;
• To maintain good bilateral relations with donors through positively marketing the university and its work and through regular contact;
• To maintain a database of all donors, electronically and otherwise.

What services does the Unit provide?

• The development and editing of project proposals;
• The identification of potential donors;
• Contact with donors;
• Follow-up requests by the proposer/donor.

It should also be noted that the process of soliciting funds is generally a long term activity which requires the development and nurture of those of relationships.
