DUT IS ALL SET TO HOST THE 2024 AUTUMN CEREMONIES

The Durban University of Technology (DUT) is on track to host the 2024 Autumn Graduation Ceremonies at the Indumiso Campus Hall in Pietermaritzburg from Monday, 13 May 2024 to Tuesday, 14 May 2024. The Durban graduation ceremonies will take place in the Olive Convention Centre from Monday, 20 May 2024 to Tuesday, 28 May 2024.

A total number of 6991 graduands from the Midlands and Durban campuses will be graduating. Once again, “girl power” is alive and well at DUT, with over 61% of the graduands being women. That means, a total of 4291 women and 2700 men will be graduating during the 28 individual ceremonies.

In total, 6235 graduands will obtain their undergraduate qualifications while 756 will graduate with their postgraduate qualifications. The Faculty of Management Sciences has a total number of 2531 graduands, the Faculty of Accounting and Informatics will have 1871 graduands, followed by the Faculty of Arts and Design with 751, alongside 623 graduands from the Faculty of Applied Sciences, 720 graduands from the Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment and 495 students who will be graduating from the Faculty of Health Sciences.

The graduation schedule with the relevant details of the upcoming ceremonies is available on the DUT website: www.dut.ac.za. On a daily basis, there will be a maximum of three graduation sessions; Session 1 at 09h00, Session 2 at 14h00 and Session 3 at 18h00. It is crucial that all graduands know exactly which session they will be graduating and arrive early at the venue. DUT will be livestreaming all 28 ceremonies via the DUT website.

The Faculty of Arts and Design will confer an Honorary Doctoral Award to a world-renowned South African storyteller, author, poet, playwright and actress, Ms Nokugcina Elsie Mhlophe, popularly known as “Gcina Mhlophe”. The honorary degree will be conferred during the closing ceremony of the DUT 2024 Autumn Graduation which will be held at the Olive Convention Centre, Durban on Tuesday, 28 May 2024 at 09h00.

The awarding of the honorary degree is in recognition of Gcina Mhlophe’s exceptional contribution and accomplishment in the world of the Arts, particularly in literature and the entertainment industry.

The Autumn Graduation Ceremonies will be officially constituted by the DUT Chancellor, Ms Nonkululeko Nyembezi and the DUT Vice-Chancellor and Principal, Professor Thandwa Mthembu.

The University congratulates all DUT adaptive graduates and wish them well on their journey to participate productively in the development of our region, the country and the world.
