Ministers Trevor Manuel and Yunus Carrim To Launch National Skills Institute at DUT Tomorrow

As part of implementing South Africa Connect; South Africa’s broadband policy, plan and strategy, Communications Minister; Yunus Carrim, Minister in the Presidency; Trevor Manuel and Communications Deputy Minister Stella Ndabeni-Abrahams will launch the iKamva National e-Skills Institute (iNeSI) at DUT tomorrow (Friday, February 21, 2014).

iNeSI is one of the interventions referred to in SA Connect and is aimed at the development of local e-skills required by the sector and the user skills necessary for social and economic inclusion to secure and create jobs.

iNeSI brings together government, business, schools, FET Colleges, universities, civil society and global development partners to advance the development of local ICT skills that will make South Africa globally competitive, facilitate economic and social inclusion and contribute to economic growth.

iNeSi is a result of the realignment of three institutions, namely, the National Electronic Media Institute of South Africa (NEMISA), e-Skills Institute and Institute of Satellite Software Applications (ISSA).
