Khaya Mthethwa promotes “How do you Love” on Radio DUT

In the month of love, singer, songwriter, musician and South African Idols season eight winner Khaya Mthethwa in his latest single featuring Heavy K asks, “How Do you Love?”

During his interview with DJ Hezy on RadioDUT’s AM2PM show, the born and bred Durbanite who grew up in church, is back on the road promoting his latest musical offering. Mthethwa has made several appearances on Joyous Celebration but his main break was when he won South African Idols. His first hit song, For you, went Gold – followed by The Uprising, which went double platinum.

The singer says that for all of his life, he had always wanted to be in the music industry. “After matriculating I wanted to pursue a career in music but my parents were not too happy about it so I studied Project Management but I have always been active in our church choir,” said Mthethwa.

Mthethwa was born into the Umlazi Oasis Fellowship Centre where his father Ministers. He says all gratitude goes to God and his fans. “I cannot be taking all the credit and forget about the person who has made this possible, which is God and my music would have not reached Gold or Platinum if it weren’t for the love of my fans,” he said.

Encouraging DUT students and those who want to pursue careers in music, Mthethwa said that it was essential that they support their talents with education. “One cannot depend on talent alone, in order to grow in this industry, you need to back up your talent with education,” said Mthethwa.

The musician cheerfully took pictures with DUT students as they came to the RadioDUT studio in numbers.
