The Durban University of Technology’s City Campuses are located within ten minutes of driving to the Indian Ocean’s “Golden Mile” beach front tourism destination, to the busiest port on the African continent and to the world-class Albert Luthuli International Convention Center. As a student in the four week International School programme at DUT, you will participate in Service Learning activities, attend the mandatory, “Introduction to South Africa’s Political History” course which will include visits to a number of historical “living museum” sites; learn basic isiZulu during the “Zulu Language and Culture” elective course and participate in the intensive and interactive study during the “Interface of Arts and Science in Society” course. The International School students will receive a total of 4 U.S. credits from their home institutions when they successfully complete the four week Study Abroad programme offered at the Durban University of Technology, located in the unique Kingdom of the Zulus.

  • While at DUT, you’ll be housed in University organized accommodation, close to the main teaching venues. You will have a single room and share bathroom and kitchen facilities with other international students.
  • After the program ends, you will have the option to participate in a weeklong tour of South Africa’s famous Garden Route, a stunning stretch of Western Cape coastline, rich in diverse natural beauty and a visit to Robben Island where former President, Nelson Mandela was imprisoned for 27 years.
