Durban University of Technology (DUT) recently approved the ENVISION2030 Living Values Framework. The five values are identified as transparency, honesty, integrity, respect and accountability. The principles espoused are fairness, professionalism, commitment, compassion and excellence. DUT’s Communications team, Nomvelo Zulu spoke to Nomvuyo Florence Mbewu, Senior Professional Nurse at the DUT Isolempilo Clinic.
Q: Kindly tell me about your role at DUT?
A: “As a senior nurse my role at DUT is to make sure that DUT staff and students have access to health care services on campus.”
Q: How long have you been a member of the DUT family?
A: “I’ve been part of DUT family for 27 years now.”
Q: Amongst the mentioned ENVISION2030 Living Values and Principles, which one do you mostly associate with and why?
A: “I associate with all the ENVISION2030 Living values and Principles but transparency stands out for me since transparency is key to the nursing profession, people’s lives are in our hands. We make sure that we are transparent as far as possible.”
Q: How are you planning to keep abreast with the ENVISION2030 strategy.
A: “To work more harder while being creative and making sure that my work is impactful towards other people and the organisation.”
Q: What is the one thing that most people do not know about you?
A: “That I am a Christian.”
Q: In your opinion, how will the ENVISION2030 Living Values Framework benefit DUT?
A: “It will benefit DUT by creating a positive image which will help DUT to attract more stakeholders, investors and clients.”
Q: What do you like to do in your spare time?
A: “I like reading books.”
Q: How do you plan to make a positive impact at DUT?
A: “By making positive contribution to everything that I do. Also, doing things that aligns with the ENVISION2030 strategy will positively impact DUT.”
Q: What is your daily motivation?
“My daily motivation is to excel in whatever I do.”
Q: What are your future goals at DUT?
A: “My future goal is to grow, learn new things each and every day and making a positive contribution to everything that I do.”
Q: If you were granted one wish, what would it be?
A: “My wish is to buy a house that is around DUT.”
