The Durban University of Technology (DUT)’s Human Capital Services Unit recently introduced the DUT Living Values Framework weekly competition which is open to the entire DUT community. The second round of the competition was accessible from Thursday, 6 to Tuesday, 11 April 2023 on the DUT website and all communication platforms.
Every member of the DUT community is eligible to participate in the competition. The competition will run until the launch of the ENVISION2030 Living Values Framework in the upcoming months.
The four lucky winners for week two of the competition were Mr Moonsamy Pillay, Senior Lecturer: Public Management and Economics, Mr Nkosimpile Msimanga, a third-year student, Diploma: Business Information and Management, Mr Zethembe Msizi: Postgraduate Diploma in Accounting student and Ms Xolile Mthembu, an Advanced Diploma in Business Information Management.
Winners are drawn every Wednesday and notified of their winning. Every Thursday, the winners receive their prices from Mr Avhatakali Nenungwi, Director: Organisational Development and Talent Management at Human Capital Services unit. Mr Nenungwi is the project leader for the Living Values Framework Drive campaign.
This week’s winners shared their excitement when they were contacted and notified that they have won and must collect their prices. Pillay said he was pleasantly surprised that he was one of the winners. “ I am glad to have participated in an exercise that highlights the integral values and principles that underpin the process of achieving DUT’s vision and mission,” he said.
Msimanga was just as grateful to be one of the chosen winners of the competition since he did not think his name would be selected in the draw. “I am very happy and excited for this amazing moment of being a winner, he said elatedly.”
Msizi encouraged all students to not shy away from entering the competition and to also familiarise themselves with the living values and principles of the University. “Understanding the living values and principles of the University we are in makes us have an understanding of its direction. This competition is a sign that the University is very progressive and we must applaud the University for thinking of such an initiative,” said Msizi.
Mthembu applauded DUT for seeing the need to include its entire community in the preparation of the launch of the living values framework. “It is such an honour to be chosen as one of the winners of this competition. We are truly grateful to DUT for implementing such a competition, I will continue entering,” she jubilantly said.
