DUT 2023 SPRING GRADUATION ENDS ON A HIGH NOTE

Durban University of Technology’s (DUT’s) 2023 Spring Graduation was an amazing celebration for the DUT’s class of 2022. The graduation ceremony was held over two-day at the Olive Convention Centre from 18 to 19 September 2023.

The final DUT 2023 Spring graduation was a ceremony to remember which showcased glitzy, bedazzling fashion attires and fancy hairdos. Tailored suits, designer dresses, bedazzled nails, the Faculty of Accounting and Informatics, Arts and Design and Health Sciences graduands dressed to ‘impress’ at the final graduation session.

Graduands graduated with a great sense of pride but also made sure that their fashion sense and style was just as good as their number-crunching skills.  The young lads also made great fashion efforts to ensure that their suits were of immaculate quality. Some opted for traditional attire, with Xhosa and IsiZulu colours dominating in such garments.

Families displayed jubilance as they witnessed their loved ones walking the graduation podium to receive their qualifications. At times, the audience could be heard ululating, shouting out clan names proudly and sharing tears of joy for the graduands on stage. All in all, the day was a huge ‘fashion’ success with graduates continuing their celebrations with family and friends, marking the end of a momentous event in their academic lives.

Ms Zama Mncube, president of Convocation, shared her congratulatory message with the graduating class of 2023. “Congratulations on this wonderful achievement. Revel in this accomplishment, you deserve it, it took a lot of hard work and sacrifice to attain this goal. I am certain that today marks the beginning of the many successes you will achieve along your journey of life,” she said.

She further reminded graduates to honour and thank those who have supported them and contributed to their success. “You have acquired the skills and knowledge to tackle the challenges in our communities and to work towards a better, brighter, and safer South Africa. Go forth and instill hope and courage in your fellow citizens.  As a proud alumnus of this university, you are connected to DUT brand. Carry it with pride wherever your experiences and associations take you. On behalf of DUT people, congratulations, once again. We wish you well in your future endeavours,” she said.
