Favour Agbjor hailing from the Delta State, Nigeria, has graduated with his Master’s Degree in Construction Management Cum Laude at the Durban University of Technology Autumn Graduation Ceremony, which was held at the Olive Convention Centre, Durban on Monday, 20 May 2024.
The 29-year-old, who also has a Bachelor’s Degree which he had obtained from the Federal University of Technology Akure, shared that he is deeply honoured to be one of the faculty’s top achievers.
“I am truly honoured to be recognised as one of our faculty’s top achievers. It instils within me a thrilling gratitude and a deep sense of achievement. Graduating with such laudable laurels is a testament to my dedication and academic excellence. It inspires confidence in my abilities and fuels my commitment to lifelong learning and to making positive impacts in future endeavours. Indeed, I am thankful for this recognition and I am eager to relentlessly represent DUT as a top achiever,’’ he said.
Agbjor’s remarkable journey was never easy. There were moments of doubt and uncertainty where the weight of the research endeavour seemed daunting, and the temptation to abandon the pursuit lingered. Nevertheless he persevered and he is now reaping the rewards.
“Achieving this academic distinction would not have been possible without the support and guidance of my professors, mentors, peers, and the academic community at DUT and beyond. Their mentorship, encouragement, and academic rigour have played a pivotal role in shaping my intellectual curiosity, critical thinking skills, and passion for learning,’’ he added.
He further emphasised that their mentorship and guidance served as pillars of support, offering reassurance during moments of uncertainty and instilling confidence in his abilities.
He also had expanded his appreciation to his family and shared how excited they are for this success.
“My family members expressed profound happiness and excitement. I keenly acknowledge them for their relentless support, encouragement, warm advice which proved invaluable navigating my route to novelty,’’ he said.
He eagerly plans on embarking on his PhD journey, with the aim of initiating applied research of significant intellectual merit within the realm of the built environment. He aspires to cultivate a comprehensive understanding and practical expertise across academia and industry, while nurturing his theoretical, analytical, and practical proficiencies.
