The Durban University of Technology (DUT) Student Representative Council (SRC) Sport and Recreation Officer (Durban), Fezeka Majombozi obtained her Diploma in Management Sciences specialising in Business Law at the DUT 2024 Autumn Graduation ceremony, which took place at the Olive Convention Centre on Monday, 27 May 2024.

Majombozi (21) from eShowe in KwaZulu-Natal praised her lecturer, Mr Thabiso Msomi for inspiring her and being instrumental in her academic success.

‘’My journey at the DUT has been enriching and enjoyable, I cannot forget to mention my lecturer, Mr Thabiso Sthembiso Msomi who contributed positively to my academic success and to who I have become. He is one person that I look up to,’’ she said.

Expressing how elated she was for her milestone, Majombozi said she appreciates her family for their unwavering support and shared that her achievement demonstrated an elevated level of academic excellence. It also reflects her dedication, hard work, and academic commitment, despite also being involved in student leadership.

“My family’s excitement surpassed even my own, as evidenced by their constant well-wishes and encouragement. Their support and enthusiasm, especially at my age, serve as a powerful testament to the belief that anything was achievable with determination and a positive mindset. Overall, it was a notable accomplishment that I was proud of and I can potentially benefit from in numerous ways in the future,’’ she said.

Majombozi does not only excel in her academics, she also contributes to the DUT society. Apart from her SRC role, she has been participating in various campus organisations and roles. In 2022, she served as the Qhakaza Ladies Network Residence Representative, and a House Committee member at Yasir residence in 2023.

She concluded by sharing a profound message to first-year students. Highlighting that when one develops a passion for his/her choice of study, it will reciprocates that passion back. “In times of difficulty, the lecturers are not your enemies; they are allies who are ready to help you overcome challenges and excel in your studies,’’ she concluded.
