FULTON SCHOOL FOR THE DEAF VISITS BRICKFIELD AND CITY CAMPUSES FOR A TOUR OF FACILITIES

The Durban University of Technology’s (DUT’s) Faculty of Arts and Design welcomed a group of learners and teachers from the Fulton School for the Deaf for a tour of its facilities at the Brickfield and City Campuses on Thursday, 1 August 2024. The tour, led by Andile Dube, Information and Communication Officer of the Faculty of Arts and Design, was aimed to give the students a better understanding of the courses offered and what they entailed.

Dube welcomed the learners and encouraged the Grade12 learners to apply early through the Central Application Office (CAO). The teachers from Fulton School for the Deaf were also on hand to translate and assist throughout the tour.

The tour was a huge success, with students expressing their gratitude and appreciation for the opportunity to explore the campus and its facilities. Akira Budhoo, one of the learners, said,

“I was very happy about the tour and learned a lot. It will now be easier for me to choose my career path.” Learner, Esihle Buthelezi added, “This was an interesting tour for me, and I learned a great deal about design, jewellery, and interior design.”

The students were impressed and engaged throughout the tour, asking questions and showing enthusiasm for the various courses. The tour concluded with a visit to the DUT Satellite Gallery where the learners viewed the Cedric Nunn exhibition, currently on display.
