The Faculty of Management Sciences at the Durban University of Technology (DUT) is pleased to announce an upcoming high-profile panel discussion titled, Scholars in Conversation: SA and USA Political Tensions. The event is scheduled to take place at the Mansfield Hall, Ritson Campus in Durban on Tuesday, 10 June 2025 from 11h00 to 13h30.
This significant event aims to promote informed dialogue on the evolving political dynamics between South Africa and the United States of America. It will bring together respected thought leaders, political figures and academic scholars to offer diverse perspectives and expert insights.
The event will open with keynote addresses delivered by distinguished guest speakers:
Honourable Mmusi Maimane, Leader of the Build One South Africa political party
Honourable Francois Rodgers, KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Finance
This will be followed by a panel discussion featuring scholars from leading institutions across South Africa, including the Durban University of Technology, University of Johannesburg, North-West University and Nelson Mandela University. Their participation promises to enrich the discussion through a dynamic and insightful exchange of ideas.
This initiative aligns with DUT’s ENVISION2030 strategy and Philosophy of Education, which aims, among other goals, to shape adaptive graduates who transform society.
This event reflects the faculty’s ongoing commitment to engaging with critical societal issues and supporting meaningful dialogue. Last year, the faculty successfully hosted a Post-Elections Debate featuring student leaders from various political parties at the university.
