DUT FC TRIO SIGNS WITH GOLDEN ARROWS

The Durban University of Technology (DUT) continues to cement its reputation in producing great talent in football. Three DUT FC rising stars Kwanele Nyawo (striker), Siyabonga Khumalo, and Manqoba Mlele (defenders) have recently signed by Golden Arrows FC, who compete in the Motsepe Foundation Championship.

For Nyawo (20) hailing from Nseleni who is pursuing Bachelor of Engineering Technology in Power Engineering, said this opportunity is a step closer to his dream to play for one of the biggest teams in the country.  He also credited DUT coaches for shaping and guiding him through.

“I was very happy, to me this is my biggest achievement so far. I would also like to thank my previous coaches, back home and DUT for their contribution to my recent success,’’ he added.

Mlele (20) from eNanda, Durban enrolled for Diploma in Business and Information Management sharing his excitement said, “I was happy to be signed by a professional club and it means a new chapter of growth, challenges and opportunities,’’ he said.

Khumalo from Clermont, Durban said he was over the moon upon receiving the news. For him getting a chance to display his talent on television is indeed a dream come true.

“I would like to thank my coach, Andile Mavundla who trained me to be a better centre back and taught me real football. I would also like to thank the manager as well (Zakes Sikhakhane) for advice. My mother as well for her support from day one,’’ he shared.

This exciting news comes after another DUT FC star Nhlakanipho Ngwenya was signed by Durban City FC early this year.

This milestone marks yet another step forward for DUT FC in producing players with great potential and showcasing the university’s commitment to nurturing sporting excellence.
