REGISTRATION FOR 2026 ACADEMIC YEAR IS UNDERWAY AT DUT

The Durban University of Technology (DUT) registration for the 2026 academic year is currently underway. Registration, which is primarily conducted online, started on Monday, 12 January 2026 and is expected to end on Friday, 06 February 2026. The university does not take walk-ins, however on-campus assistance is available for students who require support.

The University has reassured students that the registration process is proceeding as planned and that there is no need for panic. Access to registration halls is strictly managed, with on-campus assistance reserved for students who have received and accepted firm offers.

DUT Registrar, Dr Maditsane Nkonoane said the online system has enabled thousands of students to register successfully.

“There is really no need for panic as the registration process is proceeding as planned. During the mocked registration period more than 7,000 students successfully registered online. We are confident that the University will meet its registration targets within the set timeframes,” said Dr Nkonoane.

DUT launched PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, a new all-in-one Student Information System (SIS), in January 2026. By bringing all student services into one digital hub, the university is creating a faster and more integrated experience for users. While the transition to a new system is a major milestone, there may be minor glitches along the way, and DUT has appealed to users to remain patient as these challenges are resolved.

The Student Representative Council (SRC) has welcomed students and encouraged patience as the University continues to resolve system-related challenges.

SRC President Sihle Nkosi said the SRC is working closely with University management to address issues related to registration, funding, and residence placements.

“We wish to reassure students that no one will be disadvantaged due to system-related challenges. SRC members and University staff remain available to support students throughout the registration process,” added Nkosi.

Students are encouraged to continue registering online where possible. Those who require additional assistance are welcome to visit campus, where SRC members and university support staff are available to provide support, including residence-related queries.

First-year students have already begun sharing positive registration experiences. Nokubonga Ngcobo, from Newlands West in Durban and a former learner at Masakhane Girls Secondary School, has successfully registered for a Diploma in Tourism Management and expressed excitement about beginning her academic journey at DUT.

“The registration process went smoothly, and I was assisted promptly by support staff. I am very excited to begin my studies in Tourism Management and look forward to what 2026 has in store for me at DUT,” she expressed.

As the academic year gets underway, the SRC has urged students to approach the registration period with patience, unity, and a shared commitment to academic success, noting that the challenges currently being experienced are temporary.

The University and SRC concluded by wishing all DUT students a smooth registration process and a successful academic year ahead, reaffirming their commitment to supporting students throughout registration and beyond.
