Q: When did you join the DUT sports team?
A: “I joined the DUT football team last year (2025).”

Q: What sparked your interest in this type of sport?
A: “I was inspired by Itumeleng Khune, the former Kaizer Chiefs captain and Bafana Bafana goalkeeper. His journey motivated me to pursue football seriously.”

Q: In terms of the role you have for the team, elaborate on what it entails and how it benefits the team?
A: “As a goalkeeper, my responsibility is to keep clean sheets and prevent the opposition from scoring. My role is crucial in helping the team secure victories, which is always our main objective.”

Q: Which other sport codes are you interested in and why?
A: “To be honest, football is the only sport I am both capable of and passionate about.”

Q: What is the biggest tournament you have participated in?
A: “The Khabba Cup is one of the biggest tournaments in KZN. I played in Isiphingo (Durban), against 32 teams from different provinces.”

Q: Why is it vital for DUT to develop students in sport?
A: “Sport helps keep our minds fresh and active, especially with the pressures of academics. It also keeps us disciplined and helps protect us from negative influences, ensuring we stay focused on our studies.”

Q: Who is your role model and why?
A: “My role model is Manuel Neuer, the Bayern Munich goalkeeper from Germany. I admire his excellent ball distribution and outstanding shot-stopping ability.”

Q: Which ENVISION2030 living values and principles do you associate with and why?
A: “Respect is very important, especially in a diverse university environment where people come from different cultures. Without respect, it is difficult to succeed in university life. I also value honesty. I constantly remind myself that I am here to study and build my future. Even when I feel unmotivated, being honest with myself helps me stay focused and disciplined.”

Q: Do you see a future in your sport?
A: “Definitely. I aspire to play professionally for one of the top teams in South Africa and, hopefully, represent Bafana Bafana one day.”

Q: As a DUT star, how does your role benefit your community?
A: “I aim to inspire young people who love football to push themselves and pursue their dreams. I want them to understand that anything is possible if they believe in themselves and work hard.”

Q: What impact has sport made on your life?
A: “Sport has taught me humility and discipline. It has shown me that working hard towards your dreams is essential. It has also guided me away from negative influences such as drugs and alcohol.”

Q: Can you suggest some ideas to attract spectators to varsity sports?
A: “DUT should promote all its sporting codes more actively, not only to students but to the broader community. Sharing sporting events across all DUT social media platforms would help increase visibility and attract more supporters.”
