Book publication in fluid dynamics

The Advanced Computer Modelling and Manufacturing Centre at DUT is proud to announce the publication of a book authored by Professor Ramu Naidoo of the Centre for Advanced Computer Modelling and Manufacturing. The book, “Algorithms For Hyperbolic Systems And Applications” (ISBN 978-3639279870) was sourced for publication by German publishing company, Verlag Dr Muller. It is now available online at http://www.Amazon.com and http://www.bod.com

Overview:
Many researchers tend to use modeling software as a black box. However, understanding the schemes and algorithms to a large extent helps researchers make informed decisions and interpretations of solutions of models.

The algorithms were constructed using high resolution schemes. The schemes were derived from first principles using modern numerical mathematics theory and practice. The algorithms were specifically designed for fluid dynamics research and design. The algorithms were tested on the Navier Stokes fluid equations, Heat and Mass Transfer, thermodynamic and strengths of materials and electro-magnetic problems. In particular the algorithms were designed for shockwaves simulations in stiff or non-stiff source systems.

It is not tied to any Eigen- structure of the problem. They can be implemented in a straight forward manner for general conservation laws and related equations governing the evolution of large gradient phenomena. Their capabilities for both short-time and long-time scheme integrations were assessed and provided stable solutions. Studies performed on relaxation systems indicate the accuracy and robustness of the new schemes. In addition, their application to the fluid equations constitutes a novel approach to the numerical integration of such systems.
