The Durban University of Technology is launching DUT4life, an online collaboration suite for students.

This suite includes:
10 GB Mailbox
25 GB Skydrive (space on the internet to store your documents, pictures, etc)
Instant Messaging capabilities (text & Video)
On-line access to Microsoft Office (Word, Powerpoint, Excel & OneNote)
The secure sharing of documents.

All a student needs is a browser (independent of operating system e.g. IE, FireFox, Safari, Google Chrome) and an internet connection.

Students can logon to their system with their ID’s, create a Word document, save the file to their SkyDrive, share this file with fellow students or email the document to their lecturer. The system also supports mobile devices.

If a student has their own computer, there are clients available for each product in the suite.

DUT4life will be the official communication medium between University and students. Student’s will also be able to access their email’s for life – enabling them to stay in touch with classmates.

We are launching DUT4life on 14 September 2011 at the Steve Biko campus, outside the library. We plan to have an internet café type of setup, where students can come and access the system. There are lots of prizes up for grabs!

The system will also be launched on 15 September at Riverside campus in PMB and on the 19th at City and Brickfield Road campuses.

Altech Autopage will be present and they will be showcasing some of the latest handsets and data devices available.

The system will be rolled out for alumni from October this year.
