DUT Welcome Another Group Of German Exchange Students

The Durban University of Technology has been welcoming exchange students from Germany for the past five years, with each year growing tremendously in numbers. The University’s International Education and Partnerships (IEP)office welcomed over 20 exchange students yesterday (Monday, July 15, 2013) at the ML Sultan campus.

The Students were welcomed by a musical piece by a DUT student and his team, with a song titled ‘Welcome to Durban’.

The University seeks to create an environment that has diversity and is universal. Deva Govindasamy from the IEP office said, “We are creating a new experience for international students, through academics to mingling with the local students.” According to Govindasamy, the University focuses primarily on student-based learning.

Durban has over 3 million citizens. In a city with such a population, Govindasamy ensured students that it will be an experience of a lifetime, from enjoying the scenery of the city to visiting and enjoying the local cuisine in restaurants of Florida road.

The students will be enrolled in the Faculty of Management Sciences for the next three months. Here, students will have the flexibility of enrolling in their desired modules within the Faculty.

In an open question and answer session most of the students were fascinated by the beauty of South Africa and also amazed by the diversity of our culture.

There were also visitors from various outside organisations that worked hand-in-hand with the University in order to ensure that the stay of the exchange students is a significant experience. Among them were EThekwini Backpackers, Medical Schemes and various departments from within the University.
