Developing Great Ideas For New Ventures

Developing Great Ideas For New Ventures

Microsoft SA BizSpark Programme, in partnership with DUT and Invo Tech; an innovation incubator at DUT, are undertaking The Idea Workshop, an intensive three-day workshop where attendees will learn how to discover, develop and deliver new ideas for a new venture or open up new markets and possibilities for their businesses.

The workshop kicks off on Thursday next week (17 July 2014), ending on Sunday (19 July 2014). The Workshop will be held at the University’s Information Technology Department, Ritson Campus, 22 Winterton Walk, Block B, Room DB0004.

Neil Hinrichsen of KoiStrategy will be the presenter at the Workshop. Hinrichsen has been pioneering new ventures throughout his life – from providing one of South Africa’s first online networks, working with cutting-edge software, representing the pathbreaking internet company Netscape, to cofounding a mobile payments company acquired by Visa for $110m. Hinrichsen now mentors some of the top startups in South Africa.
The Workshop draws from Hinrichsen’s own experience as a successful entrepreneur and his many years of coaching SA’s top startups. The Idea Workshop is run across South Africa by leading organisations such as Microsoft, mLab, R Labs, Bandwidth Barn, Innovation Hub and Stellenbosch University.

Day one of the Workshop will focus on exploring places where groundbreaking new ideas can be found. On day two, attendees will learn how to turn ideas into successful new ventures, and on day three, they will learn how to craft a compelling story for their new venture that will excite and engage investors and management, their team and the marketplace.
