Following a career in Drama studies

On Friday, 24 February 2012, the Drama Studies department at the Durban University of Technology hosted four teachers and approximately 190 pupils from Groutville Secondary School. All the pupils are studying Dramatic Arts at school and the teachers thought it would be a good idea to visit a proper theatre, which was a first time experience for many of the pupils.

Drama Studies staff and students addressed the group at DUT’s Courtyard Theatre, explaining the nature of the course, the demands expected and the admission policies (including applications via the CAO) and the Audition Process that the department follows.

Many of the grade 12 pupils who showed a desire to pursue their studies in Drama raised a number of pertinent questions and it is hoped that the answers offered will help them make an informed decision concerning their future studies.
