Nomfundo Mazibuko shines at the Translation and Interpreting Awards

DUT’s Translation and Interpreting Practice Programme recently hosted their awards ceremony. The awards aim to recognize and encourage students who have strived to improve their academic work.

The Top/ Best student in Translation Theory and Practice 3 was awarded to Miss Nomfundo Mazibuko, who also stole the show by scooping many awards. Mazibuko who was named the DUX Graduate Student as she achieved the highest marks in her three years of study said, “Never have I been so proud of myself! None of this would have happened without my lecturers. Thank you to Mr Nxumalo for always pushing me, Ms Makhubu, Mrs Swift and lastly Mr Dlamini. I can honestly say that my hard work is paying off. Now I just want to graduate cum laude.”

Mr Thabani Khumalo, a BTech student, received three awards under the following categories:

– Best Post graduate research project
– Professionalism
– The tutorship award for tutoring Interpreting Theory and Practice 1

The event was attended by the Deputy Executive Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Design, Professor Graham Stewart, Department of Media, Language and Communication’s Head of Department Ms Lolie Makhubu, members of the TIP Programme’s Advisory Board including the newly elected chairperson Mr Buyani Mdluli and students.
