“Science is an enterprise that builds and organizes knowledge in the form of testable explanations and predictions about the natural world” – Professor Ilcev

Durban University of Technology’s Professor Demov Stojce Ilcev visited his home country, Russia, along with the Department of Science Technology of South Africa (DST) to discuss solutions of Space Systems to be developed for South African universities including space constellation and cosmodrome.

The first official meeting in respect to the visit to Russia was organised three years ago by the KZN government and universities. Prof Ilcev was given a contract to work with DUT’s Technology Transfer and Innovation department (TTI) aiming to improve, establish and research scientific ideas that will raise the institution’s flag higher.

Professor Ilcev has written books about space programmes, his first book titled Global Mobile Satellite Communication was published by Springer which is known as one of the worlds’ largest publications. “This country (South Africa) has huge potential in providing cosmonaut training for its future generation,” he added. The next meeting will be in April 2011.
