SAN Empowering Future Leaders From Durban University of Technology

A call by Government on state entities encouraging them to empower young people by creating job opportunities and skills development was answered by the South African Navy (SAN).

The SA Navy in partnership with the Durban University of Technology (DUT) has taken five students on to facilitate their work integrated learning for a period of 6 months. They joined the SA Navy on the 3 February 2014. All five students that were chosen to take part in this initiative are keen to experience new career-related challenges, but most of all are excited to learn new things as this is an unexpected career path.

All these students were chosen from four different departments within DUT. Sabathile Shabangu is from the Human Resource Management department; Patric Hlapiso and Kwazi Ngcamu are from the Maritime Studies department; Mawanda Xaba is from the Operations and Management department and Mthokozisi Buthelezi is from the Public Relations Management Department.
