We are excited to announce that Mr Puvendra Akkiah has been selected as our Alumnus of the Month for September 2025!

Mr Puvendra Akkiah, a proud graduate of the Durban University of Technology (DUT), is an accomplished urban planner and sustainability champion. With over two decades of experience in local government, he has played a pivotal role in shaping policies and strategies that drive inclusive, resilient, and sustainable cities. Currently serving as a Senior Manager at eThekwini Municipality, he has also represented South Africa on global platforms, including the United Nations, where his expertise in urban sustainability has been widely recognised. His journey reflects the values of leadership, innovation, and community impact, making him a deserving recipient of DUT’s Alumnus of the Month for September 2025.

Choosing this month’s honouree was no easy task, as we have so many alumni making an incredible impact in various fields.

Mr Akkiah has demonstrated remarkable dedication and achievement, and we are proud to recognise him for his contributions. Mr Akkiah’s success is a testament to the strength of the DUT Alumni Community.
