Andile Mchunu who is from Ladysmith, KwaZulu-Natal is grateful to have graduated Cum Laude for his degree in Bachelor of Education (BEd) at the Durban University of Technology (DUT) 2024 Autumn Graduation which was held at the Indumiso campus, Pietermaritzburg, on Monday, 13 May 2024.
He extended his sincere thanks to his family, lecturers, and friends for their unwavering support.
For Mchunu graduating with Cum Laude is such an honour especially since it signifies the dedication and hard work he had invested in his chosen field.
“I have always been passionate about being an educator because I believe in the power of education to transform lives and shape the future. Being an educator enables me to make a positive impact on individuals and communities, contributing to a brighter and more knowledgeable society. It’s a field that aligns with my interests and allows me to make a meaningful impact,” said Mchunu.
He had faced various challenges during his academic journey, such as time management, balancing work and study commitments, and overcoming moments of self-doubt. However, each challenge served as an opportunity for growth and resilience.
“I associate strongly with DUT’s values of excellence and innovation. Throughout my time at DUT, I have strived to push the boundaries and pursue excellence in everything I do, while also embracing innovative approaches to problem-solving,” he said.
He is committed to making a positive difference and contributing to the education field.
“I aspire to inspire a love for lifelong learning, cultivate critical thinking skills, and promote a growth mindset among my students. Additionally, I aim to stay abreast of current educational research and pedagogical practices to continually enhance my teaching methods and support student success,” he added.
Mchunu expressed his gratitude to the DUT community for their support and encouragement throughout his academic journey.
“It’s been an honour to be part of such a vibrant and inspiring community, and I look forward to continue making meaningful contributions in the future,” he concluded.
