CELT Invites DUT Community to the: DUT RPL Colloquium

The Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching (CELT) at the Durban University of Technology invites the university community to the DUT RPL Colloquium themed: “RPL as Specialised Pedagogy: Crossing the Lines”.

The pre-launch of the book will take place on Friday, 01 September 2017 at the University’s Hotel School Conference Centre from 9h30 to 12h30. The book RPL as Specialised Pedagogy: Crossing the Lines is edited University of Cape Town’s Associate Professor Linda Cooper and University of Western Cape’s Mr Alan Ralphs and is published by Human Research Council (HSRC) Press. The book captures and culminates the SAQA-UWC-UCT-Workers’ College partnership for the research towards an inclusive RPL model.

During the Colloquium, conversations amongst stakeholders will share and unpack the conceptual underpinnings of RPL as a specialised pedagogy, an account of DUT’s RPL practice, a presentation by SAQA on RPL with life-long learning as centre, case study reflections of UWC, UCT and Workers’ College, and the relevance of RPL as a tool for transformation within the broader decolonisation debate, and as an alternate source of current knowledge production.

The keynote speakers are the two authors, Associate Professor Linda Cooper, Mr Alan Ralphs, Dr Julie Reddy (Deputy CEO: SAQA) and Mr Kessie Moodley (Former Director at Workers’ College).

If you need more information, please contact Judy Reddy, judyr@dut.ac.za or Sipho Zulu, zulusgr@dut.ac.za.
