Ambitious Astika Chaithu (24), displayed a sterling performance in her academics and she aimed to leave an indelible mark in her profession. One of her aspirations is to further her studies in auditing and to obtain a Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) designation.

She fell in love with the accounting studies at a very young age. Since then, her passion has steered her to excel.

“In the future I want to achieve the Postgraduate Diploma in Internal Auditing.  After achieving the Postgraduate Diploma, my main goal is to achieve my CIA designation,’’ she said.

She graduated Cum Laude with the Dean’s Merit award for her Advanced Diploma in Internal Audit, at the Durban University of Technology, held at the Olive Convention Centre on Thursday, 23 May 2024.

Hailing from Chatsworth in Durban, Chaithu had expressed how ecstatic she was for her Deans’ Merit accomplishment, saying it still felt unreal. “It is very exciting and surreal graduating Cum Laude, it proved that all the hard work and effort was worth it. My family was extremely proud of this milestone,’’ she said.

Chaithu’s advice to fellow students who want to embark into this field is to not panic, stay disciplined because challenges are part of any journey in life.
