CHARITY MKHWANAZI SINGS HER WAY TO THE GRADUATION STAGE FOR DIPLOMA IN INTERNAL AUDITING

It was a unique and exciting moment for Charity Mkhwanazi, who had the opportunity to sing at her own graduation ceremony. Charity, a member of the Durban University of Technology (DUT) Choir for the past four years, graduated with her Diploma in Internal Auditing during the DUT 2026 Autumn Graduation Ceremony held at the Olive Convention Centre (OCC) in Durban on Monday, 18 May 2026.

An ecstatic Charity described the moment as both significant and rewarding. “I cannot even describe how I am feeling right now. I am happy and proud of myself. I am so grateful that the Lord made this day possible for me,” she said.

Originally from Nkomazi township in Mpumalanga, Charity said performing at her own graduation, especially in front of her parents was an unforgettable experience.

“Singing at my own graduation felt amazing, and performing in front of my parents brought me so much joy,” she said.

Charity, who joined the DUT Choir in 2023,  said singing has always been part of her life. Coming from a strong choral background, she explained that both her parents were choir members, which inspired her passion for singing from an early age.

She also extended her gratitude to her mother, whom she described as her greatest source of strength throughout her academic journey.

“In every problem I encountered, she was there for me. She is always one call away whenever I need her,” she said.

Charity further expressed her gratitude to the DUT Choir members for becoming her second family and extended a special appreciation to choir conductor, Mr Miya, for his continued support and encouragement.

Speaking about her career path, she said pursuing Internal Auditing was inspired by her brother, who also works in the taxation field. To first-year students, Charity has offered her words of encouragement:

“Do not be discouraged. Setbacks are part of the journey, so keep pushing,” she concluded.
