ND: Engineering: Electrical LC

In addition to the general admission requirements as stated in the General Rules, the following minimum requirements (or their equivalent) shall apply :
Senior Certificate Requirements:

  • MATHEMATICS – HG E or SG C
  • PHYSICAL SCIENCE – HG E or SG C
  • ENGLISH – Pass

In addition, a learner must obtain a minimum score of 35 to be conditionally accepted into the programme. The scores for each Senior Certificate subject result obtained are added together, with the Mathematics and Physical Science scores multiplied by a factor of 2.

National Senior Certificate Requirements:

Note:

  • The subject Mathematical Literacy will not be accepted as a substitute for the subject Mathematics.
  • Paper Three in Mathematics (Geometry) is a co-requisite for Engineering Mathematics 1 and is compulsory for all applicants unless the applicant has passed Paper Three with a minimum rating of 4 (Adequate achievement). In addition, a learner must obtain a minimum score of 28 using the scoring system listed above to be conditionally accepted into the programme. The scores for each National Senior Certificate subject result obtained are added together, with the Mathematics and Physical Science scores multiplied by a factor of 2.

National Technical Certificate N4:
N4 Certificate with passes at 50% in four (4) relevant subjects including Mathematics and Electrotechnics, or an equivalent SAQA NQF Level 4 qualification, as well as compliance with the English language requirements as stated in the General Rules. S1 credits may be given for equivalent subjects passed, with a minimum of 50%, at both the N5 andN6 level.

National Certificate Vocational Level 4
National Certificate Vocational with a minimum mark of 60% in English, Mathematics, Physical Science, Life Orientation and 2 vocational subjects relevant to the field of electrical engineering.
