Lindani Mncube, a Bachelor of Technology in Nursing student is ecstatic about graduating cum laude and receiving the prestigious Dean’s Merit Award for Academic Excellence.
Mncube graduated at the DUT Indumiso Campus, Pietermaritzburg during the University’s Health Sciences Faculty’s graduation ceremony.
“I feel honored and humbled (about cum laude and Dean’s Merit Award)”, said Mncube. “I worked hard but I never expected this”, he said, adding that his main challenge while completing his degree was balancing the theory and practical aspects of his course. “Our programme is packed. There are so many modules and sometimes as a student you lack the resources needed to do your work such as finances and laptops. However, if you remain focuses on your goal, you can do it,” he said.
In terms of his future plans, Mncube is eager to specialise in emergency and trauma or primary healthcare before pursuing his Master’s degree. He plans to celebrate his achievement with friends and family.
