“It’s God’s work, from first year I always hoped and prayed I would become a Cum Laude graduate. I put in a lot of effort and worked hard in doing my part to ensure that I enhance my chances of obtaining it, so now that I have actually achieved it” said the ecstatic Andile Lorencia Dlamini.

Dlamini attained Cum Laude in her Diploma in Management Sciences: Business Law, at the Durban University of Technology (DUT) Celebratory Autumn Graduation ceremony at the Inkosi Albert Luthuli Durban International Convention Centre (ICC) on Saturday, 16 July 2022.

From the moment one steps into university she believes that all students look forward to their graduation day, an important day in a students’ calendar of events.

“I’m so happy to have actually had a physical graduation and I appreciate the DUT management for making means to ensure that a physical graduation is possible,” she said.

Dlamini says achieving academic excellence comes with challenges that one has to overcome.

“One of her biggest challenges was to actually understand that I had to put my classmates before myself. As a class representative, some needed more from me than just to be a middle man between them and the lecturers, they also needed a tutor, someone to help them understand the work provided. I had to find a balance between juggling my work load and being a good leader to my class,” she stressed.

Dlamini is passionate about law and aspires to one day become an advocate and hopefully fill the position of chief justice.

“I aspire to become an advocate and from there on work on become chief justice. The plan is to get my LLB degree and getting a step closer to achieving that dream,” she expressed.
