Durban University of Technology’s (DUT) final year student at the Drama & Production Studies Department under the Faculty of Arts and Design, Daniel Logan Mea is proud to have traveled to two countries in 2022.

In September 2022, Mea was chosen as one of the seven South African youth to represent the country at a conference hosted in Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE). Mea along with the six South Africans were part of the 200 delegates from 120 countries from around the globe who were part of the Best Diplomats programme initiated by the United Nations. All delegates formed gave their insight through debates on how to solve the global food crisis.

According to Mea there were over 25000 applicants from South Africa, all wanting to be part of the seven that will be selected to represent the country. “I learned so much from the trip. I also travelled to India where I learnt about the Indian culture and met the president of India and the ministers of central affairs. We also visited Delhi University,” he said.

Upon submitting his entry for the programme, Mea first heard about it in July 2023 when he had performed for an event called the Tamil Business Warriors.
