Belinda tells us more about her role as Charlotte and her theatre background.

How did you get the role of Charlotte in Charlotte’s Web?
I have been in the last two productions based on Roald Dahl that were designed and directed by KickstArt’s artistic director Greg King. I think he likes me (laughs and winks).

What was your introduction to the theatre and why?
I had the most wonderful drama teacher, Andie Holborn, who came into my life towards the end of high school. She was the silver lining on my otherwise mostly grey convent life. I knew theatre was what I was meant to do and she helped me believe and convinced my folks to let me study drama as they were anxious about my choice.

What previous productions have you performed in?
KickstArt’s very first production 19 years ago Popcorn, also directed by Greg King, and the company’s very first pantomime Cinderella a few years later directed by Steven Stead, to their most recent restaging of Roald Dahl’s BFG this year.

What is your favourite part in your role?
Describing breakfast to Wilbur. Yummy! I’m a spider remember!

What was the most challenging aspect of this production for you?
Finger dexterity for the puppet work! Spiders move like two four-legged creatures joined together, so lots of finger exercises on the piano for me!

What are your future aspirations?
To add value to people’s lives through Art.
