The Durban University of Technology (DUT) together with the Faculty of Accounting and Informatics becomes the first tertiary institution to partner with the Institute of Internal Auditors and offer them working space within the Institution (Durban University of Technology).
The Faculty of Accounting and Informatics staff members under Auditing and Taxation department attended the Institute of Internal Auditors Conference which took place from the 19th to 21st October 2022 in the South Coast, Port Edward.
The conference was organized by the KwaZulu- Natal Region Committee headed by Ms Nomthi Mseleku and the other members of the committee. Hazel Xulu (head of Group Risk and Internal at Grindrod) and also the event coordinator spearheaded the conference by organizing speakers from different industries such as Big Four, eThekwini Municipality, Department of Health and so forth.
Dr Lulu Jali: Acting HOD, Auditing & Taxation, Dr Asogan Moodley, staff member in the department of Auditing & Taxation and Ugeshni Moodley: Engagement officer in the Faculty of Accounting & Informatics were also invited to partake in the conference.
This was an annual general meeting of the KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) members to share ideas on how internal auditing has advanced with technology and what the internal auditors could incorporate when performing their daily tasks.
Mojapelo, Chief Executive Officer of the Institute of Internal Auditors South Africa, visited the institution on the 18th of October 2022 before the conference to see the work environment where DUT will be housing the officer who will be a liaison officer between DUT and the Institute of Internal Auditors.
The Chief Executive Officer, Mojapelo commented: “Durban University of Technology (DUT) is the first institute to offer working space for the Institute of Internal Auditors on campus.”
