DUT BUSINESS SCHOOL EXPLORES GLOBAL COLLABORATION AT IIM INDORE INTERNATIONAL PARTNERS’ DAY

The Durban University of Technology (DUT) Business School has a vision to be a leading provider of business education in Africa and beyond. In the quest to expand global presence, the DUT Business School recently participated in an International Partners’ Day in Indore, India.

The Director of the Indian Institute of Management Indore (IIM Indore), Prof Himanshu Rai, invited the DUT Business School to participate in its second International Partners’ Day. IIM Indore is a leading business school in India, established in 1996 and recognised as an institute of national importance. It offers various management programmes, including the Executive MBA. IIM Indore is known for its high-quality teaching, research, socially conscious initiatives, and industry engagement. It has consistently ranked among the top business schools both globally and in India.

Prof Pfano Mashau and Dr Sean Jugmohan represented the DUT Business School at the International Partners’ Day in Indore. They spent three days on the beautiful and green IIM Indore campus, which featured modern infrastructure. The Partners’ Day brought together the heads of various management and business institutions to engage with IIM Indore and identify areas of collaboration.

The Director of IIM Indore, Prof Himanshu Rai, opened the International Partners’ Day engagement meeting by highlighting the Business School’s achievements and its strategic direction. He emphasised that IIM Indore takes pride in its quality education, socially conscious initiatives, and global reach. Complementing its state-of-the-art infrastructure, IIM Indore writes and documents cases, provides relevant education, and produces graduates with the emotional intelligence needed to navigate the challenges of today’s world. During the meeting, students and staff presented some of their projects and their impact. The visit concluded with a study tour of Maheshwar, which explored the town’s history, its social and trade significance, and provided an opportunity to learn about the leadership of Queen Ahilyabai Holkar.

Prof Pfano Mashau, Director: DUT Business School, was thankful for the DUT Business School’s participation in this meeting of IIM Indore partners. He stated that the Business Schools participating shared strategic intent with that of DUT Business School, and there were many opportunities for mutually beneficial engagements.

“During the meeting, we discussed initiatives that make Business Schools distinctive and directions to make educational offerings relevant in an ever-changing world. We established many more possibilities for partnership not only with IIM Indore but also with its partners. This was important for DUT Business School’s global relevance and growth. We need partners to expose students to the world. I am greatly honoured that Prof Himanshu Rai invited us to this Partners’ meeting, and we look forward to more fruitful exchanges with IIM Indore in the immediate future,” shared Prof Mashau.

Sharing similar sentiments, Dr Jugmohan mentioned that several collaborative initiatives are currently underway to develop executive education programmes. He indicated that colleagues from IIM Indore were enthusiastic about sharing their expertise and establishing courses with the DUT Business School.

“We look forward to strengthening this relationship and building mutually beneficial partnerships. The DUT Business School’s participation in IIM Indore’s International Partners’ Day marked a significant step forward in forging international academic partnerships. This engagement has opened doors to impactful collaborations that will enrich our programmes, enhance student experiences, and elevate our global standing,” added Dr Jugmohan.
